Straightforward answers to the questions that come up most often. If yours isn’t here, send us a message.
What is legal financing?
It is funding connected to a pending legal claim. If approved, you receive funds before the case resolves, and repayment is governed by the agreement and tied to claim proceeds. It is not a loan, and it is not an advance from your attorney.
Do I need an attorney?
Attorney representation is required before funding can be approved. You may start a request without an attorney, but the team will need representation details to move an approval forward.
Does my lawsuit need to be filed?
Not always. A claim may be considered before a lawsuit is filed. The team reviews the specific facts, liability, coverage, and potential recovery with your attorney.
How much can I request?
The request form accepts amounts from $500 up. This is a request range, not a promise of availability or approval. The amount offered depends on the case review and existing obligations, and larger needs are reviewed case by case — tell us the amount you actually need.
How quickly will I receive funds?
Timing varies with the information available, attorney response, case review, and completion of the agreement. Tell us if the need is urgent. We will discuss the expected next steps without promising an approval or delivery deadline.
Are there monthly payments?
There are no scheduled monthly payments while the claim is pending. Repayment comes from claim proceeds under the agreement when there is a recovery. Review the full terms and exceptions before signing.
What happens if the case does not recover money?
Non-recourse funding generally limits repayment to the claim’s recovery. The agreement may contain exceptions for fraud, material breach, misrepresentation, or diversion of proceeds. Your attorney can help you understand those provisions.
Can I request funding if I already have an advance?
You can disclose existing funding for review. Include the provider and approximate payoff amount. Prior funding and liens may affect eligibility and the amount available.
Can I cancel or repay early?
Yes. You may cancel within five business days after funding by returning the funds, following the instructions in your agreement. Ask the team about early repayment terms and how the total changes over time in your specific agreement.
Will Puentiva make decisions about my case?
Your attorney and you control legal strategy and settlement decisions. Puentiva is a funding company, not your law firm, and does not provide legal advice.
Is help available in Spanish?
The website and intake forms are available in English and Spanish. Choose your preferred language in the request so the team knows how you would like to communicate.
How can I get help with an existing agreement?
Use the client support page for questions about an existing agreement. Have your request or agreement reference available. Puentiva never sends payment instructions by email or text — if you receive any, contact us first.
